The Secret Conversation You’re Having With Colours
Listening to Your Daily Choices for Self-Validation and Confidence
When I picked up my first colour pencil, I had no idea that colour would have such a profound impact on my life, or that I would learn so much *with* and *through* them.
Well, to be honest, I had no idea what I was doing with it at all; I was simply a toddler attracted by colours, with a desire to put them on paper. I never imagined I would one day become an artist.
Truth be told, I was not particularly talented until, around the age of eleven, I was driven by a desire to reproduce a manga character revolving around Greek myths.
Who would have guessed that this passion would lead me to open an art shop in Greece, where colours would spark life in every creation and ignite profound discussions with my clients?

The "Secret Conversation You’re Having With Colour" took its full form here in Agia Marina, Aegina, after decades of experiencing colours through life, travel, learning about Sacred Flames and Chakras.
The more colours were present in my life, the more I used them and picked up on their vibration, the more I started using them as a compass to understand my needs, my energetic "health," what my subconscious was picking from my environment. I begun deciphering colours message and invitation. This isn't about complex chromatherapy charts; it's about noticing the secret conversation you're already having with the world through your daily colour choices. This is an invitation to decode your personal relationship with colours and a secret language that help you in your self-care practice, self-awareness and self-understanding.

Colourful Science
Chromatherapy, or the study of colour’s influence on human well-being, has been recognised for centuries.
There is a reason most hospitals feature pale green or blue walls in children’s wards: these cool tones are widely acknowledged for their calming properties, helping to reduce anxiety, lower heart rates, and create a serene environment conducive to healing.
Unlike warm colours like red or orange, which can be stimulating or even agitating, blue and green promote relaxation and a sense of stability.
Furthermore, because green and blue sit on the opposite end of the spectrum from red, they make red appear less vibrant and more muted, reducing the visual shock for those sensitive to the sight of blood.
Research, such as reviews published in journals like *Current Opinion in Psychology*, confirms that colour can have measurable effects on physiological states and psychological responses. However, there is no universal "one-size-fits-all" colour chart. Your own perception of colour depends heavily on your cultural environment and personal life experiences. For instance, while white traditionally symbolises purity and celebration in Europe, it is associated with mourning and death in many Asian cultures.

So, do colours really have power?
Yes, yes, and more yes.
I have experienced it personally, and I witness it daily with my clients: colours can unlock hidden emotions, lower your stress, and uplift your spirit. Conversely, colours can also bring you down, lowering your vibration or your mood. Finding how colours can support your life is about discovering *your* colours—the ones that help you get out of a funk, the ones that make you feel safe, courageous, calm, open-hearted, and inspired.
I once played with colours while exploring the concept of Sacred Flames. One day, I asked for the presence of a specific colour to be by my side. The experience was weird and fun: suddenly, my life turned orange. The train I took, the hotel room I landed in, the T-shirt my friend was wearing—everything ended up being orange. After being amused by the synchronicity, I started observing how I felt through that orange prism. How was I different? I dared more, going from esoteric shop to shop to promote my oracle deck. My tongue felt confident; I spoke up and engaged easily. How strange! Looking closer, I realised orange is also the colour of the second chakra (Sacral), and here I was, truly expressing a desire of mine without shame or fear.
That experiment, which I strongly invite you to try, because it is fun and you can learn a lot about yourself, led me to observe the colours I used in my clothing and my art daily. Actually, how about trying it yourself?
- What colour are you wearing today?
- Why did you pick it?
- Was it because you had no choice—it was the last clean T-shirt, you wear a uniform, or it is your corporate colour?
- Or is it because the colour you chose this morning makes you feel protected, joyful, focused, or empowered?
Maybe you never thought about it much and just feel good in it.
Just for the sake of it, take a second to think about what this colour makes you feel. Now, think about yesterday or the day before. Which colour did you pick instinctively? How did it make you feel? Did it give you wings, ground you, make you more confident, more comfortable in your skin, more courageous, or more focused?
The series of articles below is an invitation to explore a journey filled with colours. We will move beyond simple aesthetics to understand how colour interacts with our psychology, our culture, and our souls.
The fascinating thing about colours is that most of the time we pick them without noticing why. But your subconscious knows. So, if you feel ready to explore how colours are impacting your life, you will find a palette below to dive into this colourful growth tool.

How can colour inform you about your surroundings and help you recalibrate?
Recently, I felt a compelling call to use significant amounts of black in my creations. If you know my art, you know this is unusual. While I occasionally use black paper as a base for pastels to enhance pigment luminosity, I rarely use black paint. Yet, as this colour settled into my work, I noticed a synchronicity: the films I was drawn to were all about grief and mourning. This was strange, as I had no personal reason to feel in mourning and generally prefer uplifting stories. So, what was at play?
As a sensitive person, I sense the energies of the people moving through my shop. I don’t always have words to express what they feel, and honestly, it is not my place to change their mood or fix their issues. When I felt how intensely the colour black wanted to emerge through my creations, I tuned into what it was highlighting for me: the places of void or absence of light that needed nurturing. Once I worked on my own inner landscape, black still wanted to come through. That is when I realised that many people were currently experiencing grief. It wasn’t just individual; it was a collective wave, felt in visitors arriving from every continent.
This gave birth to the first article about Black, a colour connected to grief, the chrysalis phase, and transformation. And it also kickstarted a series of articles about how colours help you see what is playing within you and around you, and define how you want to deal with it. One touch of colour at a time, you will see your Life’s Palette creating new décors, new atmospheres, and new sensations.
This is the heart of the work I do with colour. I do not claim to change humankind’s energy single-handedly, but I can transform my own, and through my art and words, I hope to help others uplift theirs.
You do not need to have all the answers today. Simply start by noticing. Click on the colour that calls to you in the palette below, and let’s begin this journey of discovery together, one hue at a time.
