4 Messages from the Serpent Spirit

Before You dive into each messages, I invite you to press pause and only read their title and check within if one speaks or resonate with you more deeply today. If one title stands out, read that message first and take a minute to integrate and reflect on it.

Use it as a tool to meditate or journal before jumping to the next message of this animal spirit.

You can observe your day through the lens of that message or maybe invite your dreams to bring additional answer on the topic during your sleep.

I use patience and perseverance as strength

To many, it may seem that I have a tendency to bite off more than I can chew, but this is because I know what I am capable of and I trust my power.

I know that with enough patience and perseverance, I can take down animals many times my size.

I am here to remind you that with patience and perseverance you too can overcome challenges that may seem too big at first sight. Trust yourself.

I connect with my inner medicine and the master within me

Many legends instill fear about who I am and what my intentions are, but some traditions know that I represent the primal energy present in every human and living being.

Take my spirit within you so that it can show you the lessons of your fears, your wounds, and your past experiences so to teach you how to become your own master.

Take me along during your healing journey so I can help you activate your inner medicine.

I release attachment to who I have been

I molt several times per year, leaving my old skin behind just as I would leave the old self-perception or image I had of myself. I allow myself to revise every version of myself as I know that I grow and evolve every day.

Who you are today is not who you were yesterday, a week ago, or even a month ago, nor is it who you will be a day, a week, or a month from now.

Through my presence, I’d like to help you realize that you can redefine yourself and let go of the idea of who you’ve been to welcome the person you feel you are meant to be today.

I hold both the venom and the antidote within me

Many of you fear serpents in real life. We fear their bite and their venom. However, not all snakes are venomous, and those that are carry both the poison and the antidote within their systems.

What are the bad habits that are poisoning your life?

Perhaps it’s your tendency to please others that ultimately undermines your self-worth, emotional well-being, or your sense of being respected, valued, or loved.

Maybe you find yourself constantly complaining about the world, and everyday frustrations can lead to a perpetually negative outlook, overshadowing life’s beauty and simple joys, and ultimately taking a toll on your well-being.

Perhaps it is something you consume too much of, such as cigarettes, alcohol, television, video games, social media impacting your mood, health, inner judgment, and you name it. Maybe it is your hesitation and constant questioning that prevents you from enjoying life, moving forward, or feeling safe.

And maybe it is another habit that comes to your mind when reading these lines.

Now, before blaming and shaming yourself, understand that, at some point, these habits or patterns served a purpose or responded to a need. You can thank them for that, and you can assess if they are still serving you or if at some point they started working against you.

Perhaps the pleaser in you wanted to feel loved and now feels used. Maybe the complaining part of you helped you find the motivation to change things or yourself for the better but now turns you bitter. Maybe the overconsumption filled a void, but now it takes up all the space. Perhaps the constant questioning now prevents you to take actions.

Observe and assess what became your inner poison and use this awareness into a roadmap toward your antidote.

The Serpent in Greek Mythology.

The Python of Delphi

In Greek mythology, before the Olympian deity reign, the Python represented the power of the underworld, the raw forces of nature.

At the time, Delphi was considered to be the navel of the Earth and its omphalos (navel) was guarded by Phyton. When the Olympian god overtook the chthonic gods, Apollo slew Python and took over the lead of his territory and oracle.

The myth suggests that Zeus ordered Apollo to purify himself after the sacrilege of Python killing. This resulted into the creation of the Pythian Games presided by Apollo as penance for his act. The priestress and oracle of Delphi became known as Pythia after Python name and location.

Symbolism:

Whether the Olympian gods were better than their predecessor or not, the Python of Delphi illustrates the act of shedding skin through the slaying of the old wisdom and knowledge supremacy (the serpent) to a new beliefs and ways of being (Apollo's guidance). And as the cycle of evolution goes, these became then myth and were replaced too.

At personal level, it reminds us that to evolve we need to let go of old beliefs and practices we encoded in our life.

Serpent Spirit The Rod of Asclepius

The Rod of Asclepius

Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing used to have a staff with a single serpent entwined around it.

The same symbol was present in Ancient Egypt texts. We can assume it was a wide spread symbol of medicine, so much so it is still today a symbol you find for pharmacies and medical centres.

Symbolism

In Greek myths, the serpent was living both on the surface and in the underworld.

Living in these two world, the serpent had access to hidden and knowledge. It was therefore a potent companion to go within and discover your hidden truth, your unconscious guidance and find your inner medicine.
